Application Chemist

Overview:

The Application Chemist on our Locus Bio Energy team will support state-of-art product development and application testing in our formulation lab. This includes developing and optimizing the next generation bio-surfactant based products in drilling and completion, production chemicals, EOR, etc. The best candidate will enjoy a dynamic workday and workplace and have a passion for the oilfield industry.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks:

• Independently conduct experiments to develop and execute projects for new products, formulations, or expanded application uses.
• Conduct performance testing per standardized testing protocols.
• Responsible for sample preparation and submitting samples for testing.
• Diligently document experimental protocol and data and ensure invention records are properly prepared and support the Director of Technology in patent submittals and invention documentation.
• Promote the Locus brand / profile via the development of technical literature, active participation in industry organizations or technical societies, and customer interaction.
• Incorporate safe work procedures in all processes while maintaining a safe work environment in the lab.
• Follow SOP's and protocols to maintain product quality.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science, or a similar field of study.
• 3+ years' experience in application development experience in a formulation lab OR Master's degree in related field with 1+ years' experience.
• Ability to understand and apply novel chemical solutions to oil industry problems.
• Travel requirement: 10%

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

• Experience in industrial surfactant or oilfield chemical companies.
• Experience in drilling & completion applications or flow assurance production chemicals.
