DESCRIPTION
A Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP) provides psychological services to individuals, couples, families, and groups. This includes conducting assessments, formulating diagnoses, and implementing treatment plans to address a range of mental health issues. The role involves collaboration with other healthcare professionals, conducting research, and sometimes engaging in teaching and supervisory responsibilities. The LCP is part of an integrated team of administrative and clinical peers who provide professional, and confidential counseling services with a distinctively Christian approach. Employment with Light Counseling is confidential and adheres to federal and state privacy laws and practices (i.e., HIPAA). Employees are expected to work independently have flexibility, initiative, maturity, and decision-making within the framework of Light Counseling’s policy, procedures, and employee handbook.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment and Diagnosis:
- Conduct psychological assessments using a variety of tools and techniques (e.g., interviews, questionnaires, tests).
- Diagnose mental health disorders according to established criteria (e.g., DSM-5).
- Develop comprehensive case formulations based on assessment data.
Therapy and Treatment:
- Provide individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based practices.
- Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to clients' needs.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
Consultation and Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare providers (e.g., psychiatrists, social workers, primary care physicians) to coordinate care.
- Provide consultation services to schools, businesses, or other organizations as needed.
Research and Professional Development:
- Conduct or contribute to clinical research to advance the field of psychology.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in psychological research and practice.
- Attend and present at professional conferences, workshops, and seminars.
Supervision and Training:
- Supervise and mentor psychology interns, trainees, or less experienced colleagues.
- Conduct training sessions or workshops on various psychological topics.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
- Complete necessary documentation, including treatment notes, reports, and insurance forms.
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and legal regulations pertaining to psychological practice.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental health problems.
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Ability to practice active listening skills to best react and understand how new information can impact current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- Ability to use appropriate training, instructional methods, and techniques/procedures based upon the situation and current qualifications.
- Ability to effectively communicate via written and verbal communication.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Be a committed Christ follower
- Requires a Doctoral degree in psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) from an accredited college or university.
- An active and in-good-standing LCP license with the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
- Current and up-to-date CAQH profile
- Current Professional Liability Insurance
- Complete all required background checks including drug tests.
