**Position Summary

**

The Milling Machine Operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining the milling machine. In this role, the ideal candidate will review production orders to determine appropriate setup and operation of the milling machine. This position requires attention to detail to ensure the best results for our customers. All machine operators of Toledo Steel are expected to continuously meet quality standards and our customers’ expectations.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to:

**

  • Make and inspect milling machine set-up to ensure compliance with production instructions
  • Load steel design through milling machine, cropping and removing stock according to customer’s specification
  • Review gauge at start of load and finish and make adjustments to mill if needed for accuracy
  • Communicate non-compliance production or quality problems to supervisor and/or Quality and Safety Manager
  • Uses scale, micrometers and indicators to make setups, adjustments, and to check work
  • Document at order end and record all necessary production information
  • Remove scrap from machine after use and empty as needed
  • Clean machine and work area frequently
  • Inspect and maintain work area and machine fluid levels daily
  • Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications and Requirements

**

  • Ability to operate conventional machine tools

  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and technical documentation

  • Strong knowledge of and experience using machine tools and machining operations

  • Knowledge of and experience using measuring tools (Tape measure, calipers and micrometers)

  • Ability to coordinate and perform machining operations

  • Physical strength, manual dexterity, and precise hand/eye coordination

  • Precision and attention to detail

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills

  • Experience utilizing forklifts required

  • Utilize all company provided safety equipment at all times

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Must be able to work 12 hours shifts

**Education and Experience

**

  • **High School Diploma and/or GED; or equivalent work experience and demonstrated competency may substitute for a degree

**

  • **6-12 Months experience with Mill Operating

**

**Work Environment and Physical Demands

**

**

**

**This position operates in a manufacturing shop environment. Exposure to noise, chemicals, and materials consistent with a manufacturing environment is constant. This a physically demanding position; maintaining the physical strength to lift materials up to 50lbs. Endure prolonged standing.
