Key Responsibilities:

  1. Landscaping and Lawn Care:

    • Mow, edge, trim, and water lawns.
    • Prune shrubs, trees, and plants to maintain healthy growth and an attractive appearance.
    • Plant flowers, trees, shrubs, and other greenery as required.
    • Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides as needed to maintain plant health and control pests.

  2. Grounds Maintenance:

    • Sweep and clean walkways, driveways, parking lots, and other common areas.
    • Remove trash, debris, and leaves from the grounds daily.
    • Maintain outdoor amenities such as benches, picnic areas, dog park and playgrounds.
    • Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, ensuring proper operation and timely repairs.
    • Assist in snow removal and salting of walkways and driveways during winter months (if applicable).

  3. Equipment Maintenance:

    • Operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and blowers.
    • Perform routine checks and basic repairs on groundskeeping equipment.
    • Report any equipment issues or needs for major repairs to the supervisor.

  4. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure that all tasks are performed in a safe manner, adhering to safety guidelines and protocols.
    • Report any safety hazards, broken equipment, or unsafe conditions to the Property Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.
    • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including environmental regulations.

  5. Other Duties:

    • Assist with minor building maintenance tasks as required, such as painting, cleaning gutters, or replacing light bulbs.
    • Support the maintenance team with special projects or emergency repairs as needed.
    • Interact with residents in a courteous and professional manner, addressing any concerns or issues related to the grounds.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Prior experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or a related field is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Basic knowledge of lawn care and gardening techniques.
    • Ability to operate and maintain landscaping equipment.
    • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety.
    • Good physical condition, with the ability to lift heavy objects and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • The position requires outdoor work in various weather conditions.
  • The role may involve heavy lifting, bending, stooping, and extended periods of standing or walking.
  • Holiday work may be required, especially during peak maintenance seasons.

Physical Demands

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 30 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

  • Non-exempt (hourly) position. Days and hours of work are determined by the property. This schedule may change to accommodate the business needs of the property.
  • Minimum one(1) years general experience in replacement maintenance or handy-work.
  • Ability to quickly and easily navigate the property/building as required, meeting the job functions.
  • Must have the ability to react and address all emergency situations in a timely manner.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
