Role Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Inspector to oversee the quality and safety of various infrastructure projects. This role focuses on materials testing for elements such as concrete, soil, rail, and bridge components, particularly for projects involving the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive site inspections to monitor construction progress and quality.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with building codes, zoning laws, and regulatory requirements.
  • Execute materials testing for concrete, soil, rail, bridge components, and steel rebar to meet project specifications and industry standards.
  • Document inspection results comprehensively, including deficiencies and violations, supported by photographs and sketches.
  • Collaborate with project stakeholders including architects, engineers, and contractors to resolve compliance issues and ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Implement and oversee quality control procedures to guarantee the integrity of materials and construction practices.
  • Perform safety inspections to identify potential hazards and implement corrective measures.
  • Coordinate final project inspections to confirm compliance and readiness for occupancy.
  • Stay informed on the latest developments in building codes, regulations, and industry practices, especially those pertaining to transportation infrastructure and the MBTA.

Qualifications:

  • Preferably holds a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related fields.
  • Extensive experience in construction inspection, with a focus on testing materials for transportation infrastructure.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction techniques, materials, and building regulations.
  • Required certifications: ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I, NETTCP Soils and Aggregate Inspector, or similar.
  • Proficiency in using modern inspection tools and technology.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to multiple sites.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
