Zag Bio was founded with a vision to develop more precise, potent, and impactful medicines for immune-mediated diseases. Zag Bio is working to discover and develop therapies targeted directly to the thymus, with the goal of generating central immune tolerance.

Our technology platform is inspired by the work of co-founder Diane Mathis of Harvard Medical School, and operates across multiple therapeutic platforms, underpinned by a deep technical interrogation of thymus biology. In addition to Dr. Mathis, Zag Bio was co-founded by Alan Crane (Polaris Partners), Jo Viney (Seismic Therapeutic), and John Kulman (Zag Bio). Zag Bio is a stealth mode biotech company, poised for growth in line with our ambition to transform the treatment of immune-mediated diseases.

We are seeking a Senior Associate Scientist to develop novel immunological and cell-based assays to support the development of the companys novel therapeutics. This role will require creative problem solving and meticulous technical skill.

Job responsibilities
In this role, you will be reporting to the Director of Immunology and responsible for developing and executing assays that support screening and mechanism of action studies. You will:
  • Execute standard immunological assays (cell proliferation, cytokine analysis, phenotyping) using a variety of methods (plate-based assays, ELISA, flow cytometry)
  • Creatively adapt standard assays or develop novel assays to test the unique biology of our platform
  • Isolate and analyze cell types of interest from various tissues
  • Support PK/PD and biomarker analysis as needed
  • Present data at regular group meetings and recommend next steps
  • Document research activities and findings in electronic laboratory notebook and reagent registries in keeping with the highest industry standards
  • Exhibit excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and time management skills

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Proficiency in development of multi-parameter flow cytometry panels, analysis of T cell function, and immune cell isolation
  • Skilled in the development of assays such as binding, internalization and/or various immunoassays to assess complex biology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic cross-functional environment

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience with mouse handling, dosing and/or tissue collection
  • Familiarity with biologics drug discovery
