Position Summary:

The Sales Agent primarily focuses on Trucking Insurance. They are responsible for calling and consulting potential clients that are in need of an insurance policy.    


General Job Responsibilities:

  • All agents are responsible for a basic knowledge of the company's culture book, along with the mission and vision of The Paladin Group and must conduct themselves with behavior that supports these values.
  • All agents are responsible for making the most of their working time and reach maximum potential by being on time for appointments, checking voicemails/emails as appropriate and completing deadlines in a timely manner.
  • All full time agents are required to work at least 40 hours a week.
  • All agents are expected to escalate issues as necessary.
  • All agents must conduct themselves in a respectful and professional manner as outlined in The Paladin Group’s code of ethics and conduct, as found in the culture book.
  • All agents will specifically be trained on their job duties, however; other mandatory trainings may be deemed appropriate by management for one or all members of the team.
  • All agents must occasionally collaborate with the leadership team to create, revise, and maintain accurate job descriptions.
  • Other projects and/or duties as assigned.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Travel is expected to visit with clients and agents, 1-2 times a year.
  • Balance making cold calls to accounts as well as handling current accounts from their book of business
  • Make as many calls as needed to build a pipeline of leads that exceed 10 at all times
  • Submit opportunities to manager
  • Call and sell the quote to insured
  • Be knowledgeable about the product
  • Identify prospective customers, lead generation and conversion
  • Contact new and existing customers to discuss needs
  • Answer questions about the products
  • Negotiate prices and terms
  • Collaborate with colleagues
  • Maintain contact lists and follow up with customers to continue relationships

  • Sales experience

 

Education Requirements:

  • High school Diploma
  • 4-year degree in related field preferred.
  • Property & Casualty Insurance License (If you don’t have this currently then must complete P&C license exam within 90 days of employment.)

 

Language Requirements:

The primary language of The Paladin Group is English.  Excellent communication skills are defined as the ability to:

  • Actively listen for total comprehension
  • Ask questions that enhance the understanding of a certain topic
  • Relay information and/or instruction in a descriptive and understandable fashion in both written and verbal forms

 

Mathematical Requirements:

This role involves mathematical thinking. Basic subtraction, multiplication, and division skills to the general degree are required. The ability to negotiate dollar amounts and factor the value of given amounts are required.

 

Reasoning Ability Requirements:

Professional-level, reasoning abilities are necessary to process complex information, delegate duties, and prioritize deadlines. 

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to sit for long periods of time, view a computer monitor, and type (up to 8 hours a day).

 

Employment/Contractor Status:

Exempt: Exempt employees are defined legally as working at least 30 hours per week, however; full time positions at The Paladin Group require at least 40 hours. Occasionally, time over 40 hours may be necessary in order to meet the requirements of the position. They are considered full time, paid an annual salary, and are eligible for all employee benefits.


1099: Independent Contractor shall have an independent contractor status and not be an employee for any purposes, including, but not limited to, the application of the Federal Insurance Contribution Act, the Social Security Act, the Federal Unemployment Tax Act, the provisions of the Internal Revenue Code, the State Revenue and Taxation Code relating to income tax withholding at the source of income, the Workers' Compensation Insurance Code, 401(k) and other benefit payments and third-party liability claims. Independent Contractor shall retain sole and absolute discretion in the manner and means of carrying out their activities and responsibilities under their Independent Contractor Agreement. The Independent Contractor understands that these services may be temporary in nature and that he will be performing the services as an Independent Contractor and will be paid a gross wage and/or commissions on sales, as agreed by the parties herein. Independent Contractor agrees and understands the status of Independent Contractor, no benefits are applicable to this relationship. 


Schedule Expectations:

The Paladin Group’s normal hours of operation are from Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Salary: This position requires a minimum of 40 hours worked within a week and the schedule may be flexible as determined in the employee handbook. As long as performance expectations are met, salaried employees may flex his or her schedule, subject to preapproval of one’s direct supervisor.
