Cape Island Foods is one of Cape May's leading specialty foods retail and distribution companies and we're looking to add a Delivery Driver to our team. In this role you will be joining the fine talent of Cape May Peanut Butter Co, Cape May Olive Oil Co, Spice Cellar of Cape May, The Cheese Shop, Smithville Peanut Butter Co, and soon to open, Sliderz as a member of the Cape Island Foods family.

This position is responsible for ensuring that deliveries are prepared to meet customer and store requirements in the most efficient manner. This involves loading orders properly on the truck, ensuring appropriate forms are completed, following designated routes/time schedules, and delivering merchandise to the customer/stores in a safe and timely manner.

Delivery Drivers will also be called upon to perform other tasks as needed, including, but not limited to shipping/receiving, order fulfillment and warehouse duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Must have the authorization to work in this country without visa sponsorship.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have a valid and unrestricted driver's license, and an acceptable driving record from the State Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
  • High school diploma or comparable certification (e.g. GED).
  • Must be able to retrieve material from shelves and floor stacks and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods.
  • Must be able to operate a computer and communicate via the telephone

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

  • 2-4 years previous driving/delivery experience.
  • Ability to determine and shift priorities quickly.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
  • Prior experience in customer service is desired but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Must be able to concentrate in an intense, fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Must have ability to safely lift minimum of 50 lbs. without restrictions and to participate in processing shipment.
  • The ability to be able to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
  • Able to regularly perform basic vehicle maintenance: cleaning, safety check, maintenance monitoring
  • Maintain physical stamina and proper mental attitude and ability to deal with customers, management and employees while working under pressure
