Job Summary:Peoplelink Staffing Solutions is in partnership with a prominent manufacturer in the Joplin, MO area that is seeking a heavy equipment operator The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy machinery used in construction, excavation, and material handling. This role involves maneuvering various types of heavy equipment to assist in the completion of construction projects, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate Equipment: Skillfully operate heavy machinery including bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, loaders, cranes, and graders to perform tasks such as digging, grading, lifting, and moving materials.
  • Site Preparation: Prepare construction and excavation sites by clearing, grading, and leveling land. Ensure proper setup and alignment of equipment for optimal performance.
  • Material Handling: Transport and place materials such as soil, gravel, sand, and construction debris. Load and unload materials from trucks and other equipment.
  • Maintenance and Inspection: Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of equipment, including checking fluid levels, cleaning, lubricating, and performing minor repairs. Report any significant mechanical issues or malfunctions to maintenance personnel.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe work environment. Operate equipment safely and responsibly, following all operational guidelines and procedures.
  • Coordination and Communication: Collaborate with site managers, supervisors, and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and project progress. Follow instructions and adjust operations based on project needs and site conditions.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and job site progress. Complete required paperwork and reports as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in heavy equipment operation is preferred.
  • Experience: Proven experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or industrial setting. Familiarity with various types of heavy machinery and construction practices.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in operating a range of heavy machinery
    • Understanding of safety protocols and operational guidelines
    • Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs
    • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
    • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Certifications: Valid heavy equipment operator’s license or certification is required. Additional certifications related to specific types of equipment or industry practices may be preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds or heavier.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating machinery controls.
  • Capability to work in varying weather conditions and on uneven or challenging terrain.
