Exus is seeking a Renewable Performance Engineering Intern for our Summer 2024 intern program out of our Pittsburgh, PA office. This is a paid full-time position. Anticipated duration will be 8-10 weeks (June through August 2024). Duration, start and end dates are flexible to each candidate’s school schedule.  This position has the potential to transition into a full-time role upon graduation. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the VP of Technical Asset Management and partner with operations engineers and performance engineers to complete various projects. The team has a start-up-like culture that requires innovation and agility from all team members. The ideal candidate will have a combination of technical proficiency, experience with data analysis, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and high levels of organization.

Description and Responsibilities:
The core responsibility of this position includes supporting the technical team to perform the day-to-day obligations including creating flash and monthly operation reports, and performance monitoring. The individual will be responsible for understanding the performance metrics for renewable projects, both wind and solar, and aid in creating and automating advanced analytics to enhance the issue detection capabilities.
  • Aid in generation of flash and monthly reports.
  • Assist in creating new advanced analytics tools.
  • Recommend (and aid in creation of) any task that can be automated.
  • Monitoring
    • Utilize the internal SCADA system to develop a daily monitoring routine.
    • Perform day-to-day monitoring on all assigned projects.
    • Identify any performance related issues.
    • Work with operations engineers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
    • Utilize internal advanced tools to monitor performance.
  • Ability to travel to various sites, visit and accompany asset managers and operations engineers for inspections on as needed basis.
Requirements:
  • An undergraduate Junior or Senior, currently enrolled and attending an accredited college or university.
  • Willing to be in Pittsburgh, PA for the duration of the intern program (this is an in-office role).
  • Pursuing bachelor’s in engineering, computer sciences, data science or other closely related field.
  • Self-motivated, detail orientated person with a focus on process improvement.
  • Display strong analytical skills, including the ability to gather information, conduct analyses and present findings.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel Skills.
  • Experience in Python, Matlab, R, or other data analytical programming languages.
  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools.
  • SQL and API experience preferred.
