Pharmacy Inventory Specialist- 340B

The Pharmacy Inventory Specialist provides inventory support to the Pharmacy Department by help with manage inventories for 340B and WAC medications.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:
High School or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum Experience:
3 years of experience in a pharmacy technician role, 1 year of prior pharmacy inventory management and wholesaler purchasing experience preferred. Pharmacy technician experience preferred. Experience with 340B drug program preferred.

License/Certification/Registration:
Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy Registration as a Pharmacy Technician required within 6 months of employment. National Pharmacy Technician Certification (PTCB) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Practices as a Certified Pharmacy Technician in accordance with federal, state, policies, regulations, and standards.
  • Effectively uses inventory management tools to create or run scheduled inventory report and drug expiration report and place drug replacement order promptly.
  • Manages backordered medications and provides communication to clinical teams.
  • Conducts regular cycle counts of all stock to ensure we maintain accuracy in our inventory.
  • Maintains logs and forms related to inventory management.
  • Runs monthly report to assess and reconcile expiration date changes from research sponsors.
  • Reviews short-dated drugs to ensure they are reordered.
  • Reviews weekly medication lists for new patients starting with the PACE program to ensure appropriate inventory is on hand.
  • Troubleshoot inventory discrepancies and shortages, escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Processes purchasing orders from vendors as needed for supplies.
  • Maintain inventory workflow.
  • Responsible for all pharmacy inventory related activities such as commercial drug storage within the pharmacy, auditing inventory transactions, reviewing short-dated drugs to ensure proper handling and stocking, etc.
