SUMMARY:

The primary function of the Transportation Coordinator is coordinate transportation to and from dealerships, customers and body companies.

EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION:

  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company insurability standards.
  • Commercial Driver’s License required; must meet company insurability standards or must obtain within 6 months of hire

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plan and oversee all truck moves for the sales departments with an emphasis on meeting customer timetables while maintaining efficiency.
  • Deliver trucks per the Sales Delivery Driver job description.
  • Maintains close communication with service, detail, and sales personnel to minimize lag time between steps in the delivery process.
  • Work in concert with other branches (including leasing) to improve overall efficiency and load-sharing.
  • Ensure adherence to DOT, FMCSA, and other regulations to include HOS, log books, IFTA reporting, Driver Physicals, driver endorsements (particularly hazmat compliance), etc
  • Prioritize safety and risk management. Does not permit unsafe operation of vehicles or operation of unsafe vehicles
  • Ensures accurate logs are kept of where trucks were delivered, when they were delivered, who delivered them, and the condition in which they were delivered.
  • Maximize billable driver hours, both internally and externally.
  • Conducts customer pickup and drop offs for service department. Ensures loaner car locations and use are documented.
  • Periodically arranges parts deliveries for items too big or geographically outside the boundaries of typical feasibility
  • Responsible for snow removal on property, adequate stockpiles of salt, and maintenance of applicable equipment
  • When labor conditions permit, assigns lawn and property maintenance to staff of driver pool.
  • Coordinate outside vendors for building and property maintenance.
  • Ensure sales vans and loaner vehicles are inspected, operational, fueled and clean. Ensures sales vans are stocked with basic supplies for delivery operation (jumper cables, ether, fire extinguishers, triangle kit, fuel deicer, etc.). Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance with 3rd party vendors.
  • Ensures lot vehicles will start and that batteries are maintained.
  • Proportionally conducts “lot attendant” operations as physical space and traffic demands dictate.
  • Coordinates assistance with detail as overflow demands dictate.
  • Adhere to and promote all existing health and safety policies in the workplace to reinforce the Hunter culture of a safe work environment
