Metrowest Nutrition and Therapy has an immediate opening for a part-time (30 hours per week) Medical Biller.  The Medical Biller is responsible for accurately managing client payments and collecting fees, researching claims, and communicating with clients, clinicians, and the client care team. Excellent customer service skills and attention-to-detail are essential for success. This is a hybrid position, working in Framingham and remotely and reports to the Operations Manager.  Qualified candidates must reside in the states of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or Connecticut.  Applicants outside of this geographic area will not be able to be considered. 


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Review and confirm receipt of payments.
  • Review outstanding client balances weekly and reporting any collection problems or trends to the Operations Manager.
  • Confirm payment methods are current and utilize health insurance portals.
  • Collect outstanding balances by establishing payment arrangements with patients, monitoring payments, following up with clients when payment lapses occur, and utilizing collection agencies, when needed.
  • Communicate with clients about their appointment fees and payment methods.
  • Research claims and contact insurance companies to ensure claims are processed/reprocessed properly or to determine reason for denials.
  • Work with the Client Care Team on communicating and interpreting Verification of Benefits (VOB).
  • Enhance billing department and practice reputation by accepting ownership of responsibilities and demonstrating value.

Required Education/Licenses/Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1 years of recent experience in medical billing and coding using ICD-10 and CPT coding regulations and guidelines.
  • Experience with technical aspects of electronic medical billing. 
  • Experience working in the mental health field and/or sensitive to the vulnerability many feel when reaching out for help around their eating issues.
