Position Summary:
The Assistant Superintendent provides support and assistance to the construction superintendent and area construction manager in all aspects of the new home construction process from start to finish. This position will play a critical role in ensuring our company delivers homes to our customers on time and within budget.
Responsibilities:
- Support the construction superintendent and area construction manager in overseeing the entire home construction process from start to finish.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization around all homes and surrounding lots and jobsites.
- Perform regular walkthroughs with homebuyers throughout the construction process, answering questions and resolving conflicts as necessary.
- Schedule and perform regular quality and safety walkthroughs and inspections with superintendents and inspectors.
- Assist in the coordination and scheduling of contractors and subcontractors and provide continuous communication for each phase of construction.
- Assist in conducting pre-job meetings with subcontractors prior to key stages of construction and notify superintendent of any potential delays.
- Assist with the management and administration of various company programs and procedures.
- Maintain a safe work site by implementing good housekeeping regulations and safety requirements and assisting in the administration of the company’s Safety Program.
- Secure all homes prior to leaving jobsite and assist with additional projects, as required.
- Assist the Warranty Team on various projects and tasks, as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
- 2+ years of demonstrated relevant experience, preferably within the home construction industry, along with working knowledge of construction codes, general building tools, and construction equipment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with homeowners and subcontractors, as needed.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously, while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Ability to properly and efficiently delegate, execute, and follow-up on tasks.
Physical Requirements:
This position involves both office and field responsibilities. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle, climb stairs/ladders, walk on active jobsites, read plans, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and carry items weighing more than 25 pounds. Office work includes sitting at a computer for extended periods, completing paperwork, and receiving/returning phone messages. Proficiency in operating a computer keyboard and calculator. Must be able to work both indoors and outdoors, adapting to different weather conditions. Public contact is required; therefore, professional appearance and appropriate business attire are expected.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises laborers, subcontractors, and vendors on the job site. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Trains employees; plans, assigns, and directs work.
Safety Requirements:
This position is a safety sensitive position and includes tasks or duties that could affect the safety and health of the employee performing the task and others. This position requires safety training provided by the company.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel will be required for this position. A valid driver’s license and active vehicle insurance is required at all times.
