Overview:

A renowned boutique law firm in Pasadena, recognized for its expertise in Medical Malpractice, General Liability, and Employment defense, is looking to expand its team with a full-time Associate Attorney. This role presents a significant opportunity to become part of one of the city's premier litigation defense practices. The Associate Attorney will work closely with partners, fellow attorneys, and staff, and will be responsible for a variety of key litigation tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft, review, and respond to discovery documents and motions
  • Conduct, attend, and defend depositions for both fact and expert witnesses
  • Collaborate with expert witnesses and prepare detailed summaries of meetings
  • Review and analyze medical records, HR records, and other documents produced in discovery
  • Perform comprehensive legal and medical research
  • Represent clients in court, including arguing motions and attending hearings
  • Assist in trial preparation, including drafting trial documents, motions in limine, and other essential tasks
  • Manage all aspects of civil litigation from inception to trial, including discovery, law & motion, expert discovery, and trial preparation
  • Undertake additional tasks as required

The firm supports a hybrid working model, offering flexibility with remote work options, including the potential to work 100% remotely if preferred.

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active membership with the California Bar, in good standing
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as an attorney
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Proactive and independent work ethic, with the ability to manage tasks with minimal supervision
  • Capable of handling and prioritizing a large and complex caseload
  • Team-oriented mindset
  • Experience in civil litigation (plaintiff or defense) is required
  • A strong interest in medical malpractice litigation is preferred, with previous experience in these areas being advantageous but not mandatory
