The External Engagement Coordinator will support Plymouth’s key projects and initiatives through grassroots community engagement and organizing. The External Engagement Coordinator will grow community support for current and future Plymouth developments. Specific duties include identifying existing and potential stakeholders, building relationships as a representative of Plymouth, providing opportunities for diverse community audiences to learn more about Plymouth and permanent supportive housing, and ensuring compliance with local requirements. Additionally, the External Engagement Coordinator will work cross-departmentally with other Plymouth team members to respond to new opportunities and challenges and achieve shared goals. The person in this position must work collaboratively and creatively with others, approach relationship-building with empathy and sincerity, and possess strong organizational skills.

While this position is full-time at 40 hours per week, some responsibilities may entail participation in events beyond standard work hours, which may include weekends.

Plymouth Housing is a nonprofit organization that develops and operates permanent supportive housing for single adults who have experienced chronic homelessness. With apartment buildings throughout King County, Plymouth is helping the most vulnerable members of our community leave homelessness behind forever. At Plymouth, we’re not simply trying to get people off the streets. We provide supportive services like case management and health care so that our residents can thrive long-term. As part of our strategic vision, we are building internal behavioral health services and transforming our systems to address rapid growth and the changing needs of residents.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO BE DOING IN THIS ROLE AT PLYMOUTH HOUSING

  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders near current and future Plymouth developments.
  • Provide educational information to community members about Plymouth’s mission and developments.
  • Foster networks of support, organize and staff engagement activities, and support community advocates.
  • Prepare reports summarizing engagement activities to guide executive-level community engagement goals and strategy.
  • Keep track of community activities that affect Plymouth's mission and values.
  • Organize engagement efforts, plan community events, and manage responses to community feedback and information requests.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts (public policy, political science, public administration, business, social services, public administration, or related field, preferred but not required) OR an acceptable equivalent of education and experience.
  • Current and valid State Driver’s License.
  • One year of community organizing or public relations/policy experience in public, private, non-profit, or community sectors.
  • Employment or volunteer experience related to community organizing or public relations/policy in Seattle and/or King County, Washington is preferred.
  • Employment or volunteer experience related to community organizing or public relations/policy in issue areas directly related to housing and/or homelessness is preferred.
