PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Managing Director is responsible for overseeing, implementing, and managing Building Blocks Learning Centers' programs in order to ensure a safe, academic, nurturing, and a developmentally appropriate environment for students.

SCOPE

The Managing Director will be responsible for programs to care for young students.

The Managing Director must ensure the development and safety of these children in accordance with relevant federal, state, company policies and procedures.

The Managing Director will ensure that staff are respectful of students and parents, and that equipment and facilities are clean, safe and well maintained.

The Managing Director is responsible to keep current, accurate and confidential client and program files.

The Managing Director will oversee the program's budget, report on expenditures and revenues and supervise Teachers and Staff.

The Managing Director is an upper-level management position and reports to the Vice President of Operations.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Managing Director will plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the students

Managing Director will provide adequate equipment and activities

Managing Director will ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times

Managing Director will develop culturally appropriate programs and activities that highlight learning concepts

Managing Director will implement policies and procedures including acceptable disciplinary policies

Managing Director will be familiar with emergency procedures

Managing Director will train and develop staff by supervising, coaching, and encouraging

Managing Director will evaluate Teachers' performance and provide opportunities for training and development

Managing Director will keep parents informed of program expectations, activities and their student's progress

Managing Director will complete and maintain current, accurate and confidential files

Managing Director will ensure students are supervised at all times

Managing Director will establish routines and provide positive guidance

Managing Director will provide a safe and secure environment for ALL

Knowledge:

  • Child development theories and practices
  • Relevant legislation, policies and procedures to ensure that students are supervised and safe at all times

  • Child program development, implement and evaluation
  • An understanding of the diverse cultural environment
  • A strong understanding of Keystone Stars Standards, DHS Licensing Regulations, and Building Blocks Learning Center Standard Operating Procedures

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands Caring for students can be physically demanding. The Managing Director may be lifting and carrying students and equipment. The Managing Director will be expected to clean and maintain equipment and facility. The Managing Director may come in contact with children who are ill and/or contagious and must take precautions to ensure the health and safety of all students, parents, staff and themselves.

Environmental Conditions The Managing Director will be working in a busy and occasionally noisy environment. There may be a number of activities and situations happening at once, and the Managing Director will have to supervise all students and staff at all times.

Mental Demands Caring for children can be stressful. There may be a number of situations happening at once, and the Managing Director must be prepared to handle accidents and emergencies at any time. As well, the Managing Director will be responsible to administer and manage the program, activities, equipment and supplies, and the facility.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year

Schedule: 10 hour shift/8 hour shift; Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate: Wilkes Barre, PA 18702: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work
