Logistics-Dispatcher

Job Purpose:

Plan, direct, or coordinates distribution of inbound and outbound containers.

Job Summary:

This position reports to the Depot Operations Manager. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills and be able to meet the needs of various departments while meeting company budgets and deadlines.

Responsibilities:

• Accident prevention – actively identify, correct and/or report safety hazards to prevent accidents.
• Actively identify and pursue cost reduction and efficiency/profit improvement opportunities.
• Support the ISO 9001 Quality Management System and the Sea Box Quality Policy calling for self-inspection of your work product.
• Schedule and plan local pick-up deliveries.
• Communicates drivers’ schedules and confirms drivers’ dispatches.
• Responsible for coordinating preventive maintenance schedules with maintenance department.
• Coordinates the use of subcontractor deliveries.
• Communicates any delivery or pick-up issues with Customer Service/Sales Representatives.
• Reports any safety violations or potential violations to the Supervisor and/or Safety Manager.
• Manage systems to ensure that pricing structures adequately reflect logistics costing.
• Develop and maintain models for logistics uses, such as cost estimating and demand forecasting.
• Generate delivery paperwork for inbound and outbound shipments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.

Skills/Qualifications: Able to multitask, excellent communication skills. Must be willing to be cross trained in other functions.

Experience: 1-2 years in similar position.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
