Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:

  1. Machining Operations:
    • Set up and operate CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other machine tools.
    • Interpret and follow detailed blueprints, engineering drawings, and job orders.
    • Produce high-precision parts and components to exact specifications and tolerances.
  2. Quality Assurance:
    • Conduct first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and CMMs.
    • Identify and resolve any issues affecting the quality of the finished product.
    • Maintain detailed documentation of inspection results and production data.
  3. Machine Maintenance and Safety:
    • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
    • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the Production Manager promptly.
  4. Process Improvement:
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality.
    • Develop and implement process improvements and cost-saving measures.
    • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in machining technology.
  5. Leadership and Mentoring:
    • Provide training and guidance to junior machinists and apprentices.
    • Lead by example and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
    • Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and problem resolution.
  6. Technical Expertise:
    • Utilize advanced machining techniques and problem-solving skills to tackle complex projects.
    • Program and operate CNC machines using G-code and other programming languages.
    • Work with various materials, including metals, plastics, and composites.
Requirements:

  • Education and Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machining preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a machinist, with advanced knowledge of CNC machining.
    • Proven experience in producing high-precision parts and components.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
    • Advanced mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
    • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
    • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficient in using computer software for data entry and machine programming.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
    • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling small parts and tools.
    • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions:

  • The Senior Machinist will work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery.
  • Safety protocols and protective gear will be required to mitigate risks.
