MA or LPN/GASTRO

Toledo Clinic's Gastroenterology Department, located on Woodley Rd in Toledo OH, is seeking a full-time LPN or credentialed Medical Assistant (RMA/CMA/CCMA/CPCT/A) to perform both clinical and administrative duties in a busy, fast paced medical office. This position is M-F, no weekends or holidays and offers employee benefits. The scheduled hours are Mon-Thurs (9-6) and F (10-7).

Toledo Clinic is offering a $2,000 Sign-On Bonus to qualified Medical Assistants and Certified Patient Care Techs. Sign-On Bonuses are payable within 30 days of hire to employees that have active and verified credentials (ex: RMA/CMA/CCMA/CPCT/A). For candidates that have not yet obtained or need to renew their credential, the Sign-On Bonus is payable once the credential is obtained and verified. After one year of service, qualified Medical Assistants/Certified Patient Care Techs will be eligible for an additional $2,000 Retention Bonus.

General Summary:
Assist physician(s) with patient treatment, prepares patient for physician(s), and performs various clerical duties.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Assist Drs. with patient care (i.e.: assisting with minor procedures/surgeries such as removing sutures, staples, moles, etc.).
2. Escorting patients to exam room.
3. Preparing exam rooms.
4. Preparing patient for Drs. (i.e.: histories, blood pressure, vitals, etc.).
5. Sterilizing and preparing instruments.
6. Administering injections.
7. At the request of the physician, calling in prescription refills.
8. Order and maintain exam room supplies and instruments.
9. Follow up with lab work and/or xrays.
10. Various clerical duties (i.e.: answering phones, scheduling appointments, handling patient charts, etc.).
11. Other duties as assigned.
12. Schedules procedures.
13. Schedules lab work, tests, x-rays, etc. for the patient.
14. Completes consent forms with the patient.
15. Contacts patients regarding appointment times.
16. Completes prior authorizations for procedures.
17. Performs front office duties (phones, appointments, patient check out, etc).
18. Performs clinical duties (rooms patients, vitals, assists with exams, etc.)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Excellent interpersonal skills required.
• Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.
• Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
• Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
• Adheres to all Toledo Clinic policies and procedures.
• LPN licensure or MA certification with RMA/CMA/CCMA credential.

Education:

• Practical Nursing education and Current State LPN licensure required, or
• MA Diploma/Certificate with the RMA/CMA/CCMA or ABR-OE credential.

Preferred:

• Previous experience in a medical office.
