We are seeking Project Managers and Project Engineers in our Transportation Division to join our growing team based in Vernon Hills, Illinois. These are full-time exempt-level positions in a collaborative environment with a comprehensive benefits program

What you will bring to Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc

Education:

Related Bachelor’s Degree Required in field related to the projects managed.

  • Formal training in project management preferred.
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License and registered insured personal vehicle.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or additional professional licensure and certifications preferred (Ex. PTOE, CFM, etc.).

Experience:

  • Fifteen (15) years of civil engineering, municipal engineering, or related project experience including eight (8) years as a project manager.
  • Experience participating in industry professional societies preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to independently identify, evaluate, select, and apply engineering criteria and standards to manage the delivery of project scope including the development of technical documents across several engineering disciplines. The yearly project billings range of projects managed is from $1M to $1.5M.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of the requirements and processes of high complexity projects sufficient for reviewing work products.
  • Uses project management tools to monitor project schedule, budget and manpower requirements across multiple project teams and communicate those expectations accordingly. This includes reviewing draft invoices from Project Managers and discussing project performance.
  • Ability to shift team priorities when needed during project development.
  • Perform site visits to observe and/or troubleshoot complex issues, when required.
  • Lead project-related communication and meetings with client and other stakeholders or monitor the communication from support team.
  • Manage overall client relationship with GHA.
  • Manage a staff of six (6) to eight (8) direct reports and/or a Project Manager II with responsibilities that include:
    1. Completing yearly goals development and achievement
    2. Conducting yearly performance reviews and providing input on compensation adjustments
    3. Planning staff career development and facilitating training to align with team needs across multiple project teams
    4. Prioritize non-billable team assignments
  • Ability to lead the development of project proposals or lead specific elements of the proposal, as well as seek new opportunities to submit proposals.
  • Proficiency with software products:
    1. Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
    2. PDF Editing Software (Adobe, Bluebeam, etc.
