Job DescriptionJob DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
  1. Position Summary:  The Geotechnical Services Supervisor position requires a broad field experience (work outside of the laboratory), research laboratory testing, asbestos analysis, environmental sampling, wellsite experience, and Geotechnical testing using ASTM Methods/Laboratory Standard Operating procedures. The Department Supervisor has technical expertise in optical mineralogy, Geotechnical analysis, geologic logging, and data interpretation, and plays an active role in the analysis of samples as well as the supervision of geologists and other technical departments’ analytical work performed by other technical staff.  The Geotechnical Services Supervisor communicates directly with other laboratory management, the corporate executive management team, other laboratory personnel, and clients, as appropriate. 
II.           Significant Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
  • Strictly adheres to all SOPs and safety policies
  • Coordinate daily tasks while managing multiple projects and prioritizing short/long term operational needs
  • Manages field-related geological studies
  • Researches and develops technical procedures and analytical methodologies
  • Performs sophisticated analyses using advanced analytical instrumentation
  • Develops and manages all phases of project-related work
  • Interprets analytical data and prepares detailed reports that summarize the findings
  • Manages, mentors, and trains technical staff and technicians
  • Communicates directly, both verbally and in writing, with coworkers and clients
  • Develops scientific approaches towards problem-solving
  • Assists in developing proposals focusing on Geological Services projects
  1. Minimum Qualifications Required:
  • B.S. (M.S. preferred) in geology, geotechnical engineering, or similar earth science.
  • 6-8 years of professional geologic experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of management experience
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Works well with others
