This role involves providing technical leadership and assistance in developing specifications for instrumentation, motors, and low-voltage power distribution systems. The Sr. I&E Engineer plays a crucial role in guiding studies and evaluations, aiding in the development and approval of I&E drawings, and defining project scopes. Collaboration with operations personnel, project teams, maintenance staff, process controls personnel, mechanical contractors, and others is essential to deliver optimal I&E engineering designs and solutions.

Sr. I&E Engineer Essential Duties:

  • Project Management:

    • Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery of project outputs while adhering to budget constraints.
    • Balance efforts to provide project deliverables within fast-paced deadlines.
  • Design Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with the in-house I&E design team to develop I&E project designs.
    • Work with the project engineering team to review I&E packages provided by third-party engineering groups.
  • Engineering Execution:

    • Execute all aspects of electrical and instrumentation engineering, leveraging a thorough understanding of engineering principles and advanced concepts.
    • Oversee the setup of drawings and maintain design documentation.
  • Construction Oversight:

    • Lead the development of construction documents from initial design to issue for construction.
    • Perform and review project cost estimates.
    • Assist in developing, maintaining, and reviewing I&E engineering standards.
  • Construction Support:

    • Provide construction support, including bid evaluations, submittal reviews, responding to RFIs, offering field support, conducting final walkthroughs, and creating punch lists and as-built record drawings.
  • Leadership and Collaboration:

    • Lead projects and manage multi-disciplinary tasks.
    • Facilitate technical and management collaboration among project team members and stakeholders.
    • Communicate and work with stakeholders on various issues, including progress and status reports, scope, schedule, and budget.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering within a chemical plant environment.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering fundamentals and advanced electrical/instrumentation concepts.
  • Proficiency in developing and reviewing I&E drawings and documentation.
  • Experience with construction support and document development.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to facilitate collaboration among diverse teams.

This role is vital in ensuring the successful design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems in chemical plant facilities, contributing to the overall safety, reliability, and efficiency of operations.
