Nutrition Technician/Dietary Aide 

THIRA Health - Bellevue, WA

Status:  Part-Time, 20 -29 hrs/week

Required Education: Associate’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field   

Required Experience: 1-year minimum   


Job Summary: 

Responsible for providing support to the Nutrition team operations, nutritional patient care, and general support to patient programming as directed by Senior Dietary Manager   


Job Duties:

  • Assist Food Service/EVS Manager in grocery shopping and maintenance of kitchen inventory  
  • Assist in creation of program menus that will optimize physical and mental health of patients  
  • Assist in department administrative tasks such as menu collection, meal tallying, and updating relevant patient information 
  • Model and encourage patients to engage in eating per RD team philosophy  
  • Provide regular meal & snack monitoring and meal coaching to patients   
  • Observe patient dietary behaviors and report progress to RD, therapists, and/or MD as relevant  
  • Assist Dietary Manager with completion of monthly budget reconciliation as needed  
  • Assist with and/or conduct nutrition-based educational groups on various relevant topics as needed  
  • Utilize Electronic Medical Record to complete clinical documentation following group and meal supervision 
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and eating areas consistent with DOH and other regulatory requirements  
  • Conduct dishwashing duties and oversee kitchen clean-up following patient meals as needed  
  • Carry out food preparation tasks such as slicing, peeling and plating meal items as needed   
  • Supervise patients during non-therapeutic activities as needed  
  • Support patient medical needs including but not limited to: facilitation of patient OTC/prescribed medication self-administration, take/record vitals, etc.  
  • Provide support to the Medical and Clinical team as needed; use/follow behavioral intervention designed by therapy staff for effective patient supervision/management   
  • Staff that hold the DTR certification may be asked to complete the following individual patient care activities: nutrition education, collection of dietary history or 24-hour recall  


Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Associate’s degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or related field highly preferred 
  • One (1) year experience as Diet Technician, Dietary Aide, Kitchen Aide, professional food service setting, or related   
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and the ability to use various software programs
  • Must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive criminal background check (Federal and state)
  • Must possess current and active WA State Food Worker’s Card 
  • Diet Tech Certification (DTR) highly preferred
  • Prior work experience in clinical/therapeutic settings preferred; work experience with eating disorders, trauma, chemical dependency, mood disorders, and/or anxiety disorders preferred
