The editorial team at TheThings is currently looking for a Chief News Editor. We work hard to provide the best content possible to our readers in relation to Celebrities, Hollywood, Reality TV, and everything Pop Culture. 

At TheThings, we’re looking for a talented news editor who is obsessed with Reality TV. Are you someone who consumes every season of Bravo TV shows like Vanderpump Rules and The Real Housewives or TLC shows like 90 Day Fiance and Sister Wives? How about cable talent competitions like Survivor, American Idol, and The Voice? If you live and breathe reality TV and know it like the back of your hand, apply today to share eye-opening and informative content.

As the Cheif News Editor at TheThings, you will manage trending, original, informative, and eye-catching articles that our audience is craving to read. 

You’ll be responsible for editing and publishing content submitted by our freelance writing team, monitoring major news sources and social media to generate and pitch original ideas to be written, and providing feedback to the writing team about their content. 

You’ll oversee aspects of the Editorial and Writing Teams, making sure images are sized correctly and appropriate to the topic, and SEO guidelines are implemented according to the in-house Writing Guide.

Application Requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • The editor should publish a set upon articles per month.
  • Ability to manage a team of writers. 
  • Proofread and edit spelling, grammar, and syntax;
  • Ensure SEO practices are implemented in all articles published;
  • Collaborate with the writing team in all aspects of the writing process;
  • Pitch article topics.

Expectations:

  • Affinity with celebrity news and social media platforms
  • Writing, copy editing, and proofreading experience;
  • Knowledge of SEO and industry best practices;
  • Practical knowledge with the ability to learn quickly;
  • Driven to achieve goals through hard work;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Meticulous attention to detail and capability of producing flawless work;
  • Previous editing experience is a plus.
