POSITION SUMMARY:

Catholic Charities Day Program provides a self-directed community integration program that promotes self-advocacy and a lifestyle of learning. Each individual in our program possesses a unique potential; a potential to create, grow, learn, and adapt. The Day Program Manager uses person-centered thinking to establish a lasting relationship with each individual as they successfully integrate into their community. The Day Program Manager develops and implement program procedures, systems and plans to ensure a safe predictable environment that meets the physical emotional and developmental needs of the individuals attending the Day Program.

GENERAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Direct and monitor arrival and departure process of all service recipients.

Participate in development and implementation of program plans and individual plans.

Ensure that staff implement program plans.

Develop positive relationships with families, neighbors and the community.

Develop and implement individual plans to provide safe behavioral interventions for each individual. Support and supervise staff to implement such. Ensure the completion of related documentation

Monitor staff implementation of agency policies procedures and individual and program plans.

Participate in the hiring, training and development of staff to ensure implementation of Day Program procedures, systems and plans.

Maintain a safe orderly environment by ensuring the program is adequately staffed per required DDS ratios. Schedule staff and ensure adequate staffing coverage of the Day Program including providing coverage when needed.

Participate in the interdisciplinary team process, including attendance at team meetings, and the preparation necessary for reports.

Collect, input and monitor data relevant to behavioral programming, reviewing of service recipients progress developmental needs and barriers impeding growth. Ensure all client data is recorded accurately in client record in Therap and all program documentation is competed on time

Supervise the processes of cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of building, vehicles and property including implementation of maintenance schedules by staff.

Ensure the proper utilization of all monetary resources for the program and the participants, by coordinating the establishment and maintenance of accounts, monitoring the use of all purchasing methods be it credit cards, petty cash or purchase orders.

Monitor compliance to safety requirements, conduct fire evacuation drills in prescribed manner and documents such. Maintain fire extinguishers and other safety related systems.

Report seizures, behavioral episodes, injury or illness, client concerns, and/or other medically or emotionally related problems to the Director, nurse and team members. Reports suspected allegation of abuse/neglect to the Abuse Investigation Division immediately.

Report any incidents or evidence of violation of residents’ rights to Administrator and/or appropriate parties immediately.

Coordinate compliance with regulatory standards including DDS (Department of Developmental Services) quality services reviews, COA (Council on Accreditation) reviews, etc.

Provide training and supervision to staff and service recipients in the following areas:

Counseling that will assist individuals adapt to social emotional and physical requirements of daily living

Use of community based social groups

Planning and participation in leisure, recreational activities and special social occasions

Cleaning and maintenance

Additional duties as assigned


The Day Program Manager works in both indoor and outdoor settings. Frequent lifting and/or carrying objects/individuals up to 65 plus pounds is required. Standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, balancing, walking, running, pushing, pulling, and traveling may be required.

Must be able to successfully complete Physical Management Training (PMT) restraint training course. Must have the ability to safely perform physical restraints as needed for safety

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field and a minimum of two years’ experience working with intellectually disabled and/or multi-handicapped individuals. An Associate’s degree with an additional two years’ experience supervising staff may be substituted for bachelor’s degree.

Must have Medication Administration Certification or must be able to obtain Medication Administration Certification upon the next available Med Admin Certification Course immediately following hire.

If required to drive, candidate must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid Connecticut Driver's License along with proof of insurance and vehicle registration.

Applicants will be subject to criminal and driving history background checks. Must have a valid Connecticut driver’s license with no more than 2 violations in a three-year period, subject to review. Drivers History completed annually.
