We are currently searching for an experienced Resident Engineer/Technician to oversee the construction of the I-64 Interstate bridge over the Wabash River between the states of Illinois and Indiana. The crossing consists of dual 2,600 linear foot, 17-span, plate girder structures on drilled shafts and pile supported spread footings. Traffic will be shifted to one existing structure; the other structure will be razed, and the new structure will be constructed in its place and then repeated. Construction Cost is $132MM. The duration of the project is expected to be 36-60 months.

What you will be doing:

  • Managing consultant support staff to ensure proper documentation and inspection is being performed on the project
  • Ensuring all permits are being managed and the contractors work is within the parameters of the approved permits by various government agencies
  • Daily inspections and documentation of traffic control
  • Making and checking engineering computations
  • Documenting/inspecting construction work
  • Ensuring materials are properly documented and tested in accordance with IDOT Specifications
  • Generating Payment Estimates and Authorizations to submit to IDOT as required.
  • Performing SWPPP inspections
  • Assisting in all types of record keeping and field measurements, as needed
  • Work is performed under the general supervision of the Resident Engineer and/or Construction Engineering and Inspection Manager

What you need to have:

  • PE License is preferred, commensurate experience as a Resident Technician will be considered.
  • Familiarity with IDOT specifications, policies, procedures and documentation is preferred. Minimum ten (10) years of experience overseeing larger bridge projects
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends if required
  • Must apply safety philosophy and program to all operations
