The Bar Manager will promote and grow the business, hire and train bartenders and baristas, and ensure that members and guests are receiving excellent drinks, food, and service. The Bar manager will also manage inventory and resources, plan member events as part of the monthly programing calendar, ensure that quality and safety controls are followed, maintain current licenses and update vendor contracts, create schedules, and set business objectives to increase profits and maximize member satisfaction. The Bar Manager should also be able to work with diverse personalities and diffuse tense situations.

In order to succeed as a Bar Manager, the individual should be observant and have the ability to think critically, efficiently, and creatively. They should be a skilled communicator with excellent problem solving, observation, and interpersonal skills.

Pay: Commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the business aspects of the bar, such as keeping a current liquor license, negotiating supplier contracts, taking inventory and reordering supplies, managing budgets, and setting goals.
  • Hiring and training staff to provide excellent service to members.
  • Creating effective schedules and quickly resolving conflicts to ensure that bar is well staffed during peak hours.
  • Setting and enforcing quality and safety controls.
  • Research and develop drink recipes and programs to ensure a creative and attractive menu.
  • Ensuring licenses are updated and in line with current legislation.
  • Working with diverse personalities both on the staff and members.
  • Planning and taking part in member events and programs.
  • Diffusing tense situations between members or staff members to prevent unsightly situations.
  • Maintaining a fun, safe atmosphere for members.
  • Ensuring the facilities are properly closed or opened at the beginning or end of a shift.
  • Work with the General Manager and the Director of F&B to review and develop annual budgets and targets for the Bars.
  • Analyze financial performance to ensure business profitability is in line with business goals and influence appropriate action on problem areas
  • Work closely with other managers to ensure the success of BlakeSt House.
  • Participate in the orientation of all employees to communicate the role of the bars at Blake Street House and the club’s vision, mission and values
  • Conduct market research, gather information, multiple quotes, negotiate contracts and submit finding for approval prior to closing any deals
  • Ensure compliance with insurance, legal, health and safety obligations
  • Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture
  • Delegate tasks and set deadlines
  • Accept any reasonable duties occasionally assigned by the General Manager or Food and Drink Manager.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends as necessary for the success of the F&B department.
