POSITION

Mechanical Engineer Level II

LOCATION:

Lake Charles

I. SUMMARY OF POSITION:

  • Directly responsible for the specification and design of all projects mechanical equipment for both stationary and rotating, and piping systems

II. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepares mechanical data sheets in conjunction with the Process Engineering group to specify mechanical equipment requirements
  • Performs piping stress analysis utilizing Caesar software. Working in conjunction with the piping group, suggest modifications to piping routing as required to reduce piping stress to acceptable levels
  • Prepares "Request for Quote" documentation necessary to obtain vendor pricing for mechanical equipment
  • Prepares bid tabs and make recommendations to the client for the purchase of mechanical equipment
  • Performs calculations for nozzle loading and reinforcement, pumps sizing including motor horsepower and NPSH, and WRC-107 stress analysis
  • Develops Material Selection Guides including specification of metallurgy for piping and mechanical equipment
  • Performs vendor drawing reviews

III. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working knowledge of piping systems, piping design, P&ID's and associated components for the petroleum industry sector
  • Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering examination
  • Actively pursuing registration as a professional engineer
  • Working knowledge of all mechanical equipment such as pumps, heat exchangers, air coolers, furnaces, vessels, towers, tower internals, etc.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 4 years' experience specifying and working with mechanical equipment for both stationary and rotating
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Working knowledge of Caesar stress analysis software
  • Familiarity with API, ANSI, ASME, and NFPA codes
  • Experience working within requirements of project schedules and project controls
  • Experience estimating engineering tasks and writing scope-of-work documents
  • Available for short-term travel

IV. REPORTING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Reports directly to the Mechanical Engineering Manager

V. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times
