Perform engineering duties by applying principles, knowledge, and practices of electrical power distribution to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-efficient plant operations. Utilize current and new industry developments to improve plant performance and reliability, including initiating and developing electrical distribution modifications and new projects.

Essential Job Functions
  • Provide competent coverage for issues concerning low, medium, and high voltage electrical systems, including switchgear, motor control centers, transformers, VFDs, UPS systems, DC systems, and electrical safety.
  • Lead site arc flash analysis, electrical infrastructure improvements, and multi-year capital project plans.
  • Maintain and update site single line electrical drawings.
  • Conduct electrical coordination studies and establish specifications and procedures for safety devices.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Project Engineering to ensure reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations, adhering to the Life Cycle Asset Management (LCAM) process.
  • Participate in the development of design and installation specifications, commissioning plans, and acceptance tests.
  • Lead improvements in predictive and non-destructive testing methodologies for reliability problems.
  • Review preventative maintenance procedures for site electrical equipment.
  • Develop engineering solutions for repetitive failures affecting plant operations.
  • Assist in root cause failure analysis and component failure analysis on critical equipment.
  • Develop, review, and maintain electrical equipment specifications related to purchasing, installation, operation, and storage.
  • Provide various reports and maintain a professional image to clients and vendors.
  • Must be available 24/7 for plant operations support and work extended hours during outages and emergencies.
Qualifications
  • Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Licensed PE and CMRP are a plus.
  • Education, Experience, and/or Training: Bachelor’s or higher degree in Electrical Engineering required. Ten years or more experience preferred, ideally in a continuous process industry like chemicals or oil refining. Familiarity with NFPA 70, 70E, and 70B required. Knowledge of NETA and IEEE preferred.
  • Preferred Skills: Effective communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and fieldwork capabilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with SAP or similar maintenance programs. Experience in Arc Flash Analysis required.

  • Practical application of electrical engineering principles.
  • Knowledge of production and processing, design techniques, mechanical systems, and scientific methods.
  • Skills in complex problem solving, critical thinking, judgment, decision making, systems analysis, and operations analysis.
  • Proficiency in reading and comprehending technical documents and mathematical reasoning.
Additional Eligibility Requirements
  • Successful completion of a background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen.
  • Security Clearance Requirements: Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 20 lbs. occasionally and sit for prolonged periods.
  • Environmental Requirements: Work in both office and field environments, with moderate noise levels.
  • Travel Requirements: Less than 10% of the time.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination required.
