What's a Day Like as a Veterinary Technician at Cobb & Co?

It’s all about engaging deeply in quality patient care and chatting with clients about their best friends Your day might include tasks like drawing blood, helping out in surgeries, and giving vaccines—we really let our techs shine by using all their skills.

As a Veterinary Technician, you'll assist doctors to improve patient care and enhance efficiency by handling technical tasks. You’ll be involved in multiple procedures, including physical exams, dental work, surgeries, immunizations, euthanasia, and client education. A solid understanding of pharmaceutical drugs, common diseases, their symptoms, transmission, treatment, and prevention is essential.

Your day will be busy and impactful, requiring effective multitasking and teamwork. We have a blast at work every day and think you would too

 

Job Requirements and Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Veterinary experience required, including client education, venipuncture, restraint, surgical monitoring, dental procedures, and X-rays (dental and regular).
  • Excellent client service and communication skills. Outgoing, friendly, and compassionate personality.
  • Proficient computer and basic math skills.
  • Fluent in English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Spanish is a plus and comes with a pay differential.
  • Strong multitasking abilities; can manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Independent worker and effective team player in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to read animal behavior and body language in order to safely interact with various patients, including those that are aggressive or fearful.
  • Advanced skills in anesthesia, emergency care, and critical care monitoring.
  • Proficient in performing in-house lab tests (blood work, urinalysis, cytology) and obtaining and submitting routine lab samples.
  • Accurate dispensing and administration of medications.
  • Expertise in assisting with surgical procedures and post-operative care.
  • Provide high-quality nursing care for hospitalized patients.
  • Educate clients on preventive, post-operative, and chronic disease care.
  • Potential to mentor and train junior staff.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate medical records.


Physical Demands:

  • Frequent standing and walking.
  • Regular need to sit, use hands, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Speaking and hearing are crucial.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, along with depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regular lifting of up to 40 pounds; occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 5 PM; Saturdays, 8 AM - 2 PM
  • Pay: Starting at $18.00 per hour
