Job Description: Investment Operations Analyst
Position Overview: We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Investment Operations Analyst to join our investment management team. The Investment Operations Analyst will play a critical role in supporting investment operations, trade processing, performance reporting, and portfolio management activities. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced investment environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Trade Execution and Settlement:
- Execute trades and ensure timely settlement of transactions in coordination with brokers, custodians, and trading desks.
- Monitor trade confirmations, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accuracy in trade settlements.
Portfolio Reconciliation:
- Perform daily, monthly, and quarterly reconciliations of portfolio holdings, transactions, and cash balances.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between internal records and external sources.
Performance Analysis and Reporting:
- Calculate and analyze investment performance metrics such as returns, benchmarks, and attribution analysis.
- Prepare performance reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and clients.
Risk Management:
- Monitor investment compliance with regulatory guidelines, internal policies, and client mandates.
- Assist in identifying and mitigating operational and financial risks related to investment activities.
Data Management and Analysis:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in investment management systems and databases.
- Generate ad-hoc reports and analyses to support investment decision-making and operational efficiency.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in trade processing, settlement procedures, and portfolio reconciliation.
- Implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency and reduce risks.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with portfolio managers, traders, compliance officers, and other internal teams to ensure seamless execution of investment strategies.
- Communicate effectively with external stakeholders including brokers, custodians, and service providers.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain documentation of investment operations procedures, processes, and controls.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, best practices, and internal policies.
Skills Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field (Master's degree or CFA designation may be preferred).
- Proven experience in investment operations, trade support, or middle office functions within the financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of financial instruments, investment products, and capital markets.
- Proficiency in investment management systems (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, Charles River), trading platforms, and Microsoft Excel.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data, perform quantitative analysis, and reconcile discrepancies.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in trade execution, settlement processes, and portfolio reconciliations.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve operational issues independently.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate across teams and present findings clearly and concisely.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
