Position Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Medical Coder & Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will hold certifications such as CPC (Certified Professional Coder) and CPMA (Certified Professional Medical Auditor), with a CMRS (Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist) preferred. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of coding and billing within our orthopedic practice, ensuring accurate claim submissions and maximizing reimbursement.
Key Responsibilities:
•Medical Documents Coding:•Accurately assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to medical diagnoses and procedures for both inpatient and outpatient services.•Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of changes in the field.•Medical Billing & Insurance:•Perform medical billing tasks, including claim submissions and follow-ups, with precision and efficiency.•Conduct insurance and eligibility verifications to ensure proper coverage for patient procedures and services.•Claims Management:•Proactively manage denied claims, identify root causes, and implement strategies to minimize future denials.•Oversee account receivables, ensuring timely and accurate payments from insurance companies and patients.•Reimbursement & Reporting:•Optimize reimbursement processes for outpatient and inpatient services, analyzing data to improve financial outcomes.•Prepare detailed reports on billing activities, including trends and areas for improvement.
Qualifications:
•CPC and CPMA certifications are required, with CMRS certification preferred.•Proven experience in medical coding and billing, specifically within an orthopedic or surgical practice.•In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.•Strong understanding of insurance claims processing and reimbursement procedures.•Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.•Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
