Job Summary:

The Associate Technical Project Manager (ATPM) is responsible for assisting with the planning, execution, and delivery of a portfolio of technical projects in the water/wastewater industry under the supervision of a TPM or above. The ATPM works under the direction of a TPM or above with commercial project managers, department managers, customers, assigned technical staff, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required project specifications.

Requirements:

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets for an assigned project portfolio
  • Function as the primary point of contact for the Commercial Project Managers for the projects in their Project Portfolio – status of schedules, budgets, and technical scope / solution approach
  • Communicate scope and project expectations clearly to team members and other departments
  • Track project progress and identify potential risks and issues
  • Communicate with project stakeholders, including customers, commercial project managers, department managers, engineers, programmers and field service staff
  • Work with the project team to resolve issues and deliver projects on time, in scope and within budget
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the project team
  • Identify scope creep and manage documentation and timely execution of change orders
  • Escalate all operational project issues to management
  • Travel up to 10% for client workshops / meetings
  • Ownership of projects through project lifecycle

Additional Information:

  • The ATPM will be responsible for a small portfolio of projects, which may include the design, construction, and commissioning of water/wastewater treatment plants, pipelines, and other infrastructure
  • The ATPM will assist with establishing the work priorities and directing task level assignments of the project team resources assigned to their projects / project portfolio
  • The ATPM will work with a variety of stakeholders, including clients, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • The ATPM will be required to travel to project sites for meetings with clients, workshops etc.
  • The ATPM will assist with the responsibility for developing and managing project plans, schedules, and budgets. This includes identifying the scope of work, estimating the resources needed, and creating a timeline for completion
  • The ATPM will track project progress and identify potential risks and issues such as scope creep, delays and delivery bottlenecks. This includes monitoring the project budget, schedule, and quality of work.
  • The ATPM will work with the project team to resolve issues and deliver projects on time and within budget. This includes identifying and implementing solutions to problems, as well as managing the project team's workload
  • The ATPM will provide technical expertise and guidance to the project team. This includes providing technical information, training, and support
  • The ATPM will assist the management of change orders. This includes reviewing and approving change requests, as well as communicating changes to project stakeholders
  • The ATPM will escalate issues to management. This includes identifying and reporting issues that cannot be resolved at the project team level
  • The ATPM will be responsible for providing performance feedback on all resources from their project team that work on their project portfolio including quality and timeliness of work, efficiency and effectiveness, communication and coordination, problem resolution, and career development

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering or a related field or 5+ years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of experience in the water/wastewater industry, preferred with various roles and functions

Knowledge:

  • Strong technical knowledge of water/wastewater systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to manage a multi-disciplined technical team and hold them accountable to common goals
  • Ability to effectively communicate between multiple technical disciplines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Other duties as required

Training Requirements:

  • Tesco Controls, safety training program

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, and reach for short to long periods of time
  • Light physical effort equal to frequent lifting or moving of lightweight material
  • Required to travel into the field

Work Environment:

  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions
  • Work performed in a production manufacturing environment
  • Worked performed in an office, may encounter constructions sites and water/waste water treatment facilities

Pay offered will be based on several factors including, but not limited to relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and geographic location. We may pay more or less than the range based on the person’s qualifications. In good faith we believe the range is what we will pay for this role at the time of the posting and may change in the future. In addition, Tesco offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, vacation, holidays, and 100% 401K match of your contributions up to 4% of your earnings.
