Job Description

The Neighbor Care Navigator serves as the first point of contact for all families interested in our 2 Gen Programming. The navigator speaks directly with the person and their families to determine what services might be needed and then guides them to the right programming area.

AmeriCorps

The Martha O’Bryan Center (MOBC) empowers children, youth, and adults in poverty, to transform their lives through work, education, employment, and fellowship. The Center cannot service the community alone, so we partner with organizations like AmeriCorps, to fulfill our mission. AmeriCorps members serve 1700 hours over the course of 11 months with Martha O'Bryan Center, gaining hands-on experience working with families, youth, and community members. The crucial components of the MOBC—AmeriCorps years of service program allow you to build your community and professional skills, thereby propelling you towards the next steps in your career and life.

Hours: 9 am – 5:30 pm

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as initial entry point for intake and program information and support families in completing intake forms and documents
  • Assess family's needs and determine the most appropriate level of service
  • Assist with registrations for large community events
  • Lead tours and share information about our programs and services
  • Enter some attendance into our data management system
  • Identify opportunities for process and service improvements and contribute feedback on workflow effectiveness
  • Provide additional resources and/or referrals to other agencies
  • Manage internal referrals and ensure accurate records are kept
  • Research best practices for nonprofit intake processes and make recommendations for MOBC process improvements
  • Participate in community outreach and recruit families for programs relevant to their needs.
  • Participate in AmeriCorps professional development and community-building workshops

  • $19,100 living allowance (paid out twice monthly over the course of 11 months)
  • $7,395 in education award upon successful completion of hours
  • $500/month in housing allowance
  • Potential for housing placement, subject to availability
  • $160/month in health care reimbursements
  • $25/month in cell phone reimbursement
  • Unlimited access to MOBC’s food pantry
  • Monthly professional development and/or networking opportunities
  • One year toward MOBC seniority (upon successful completion of service)
  • Preferential hiring for MOBC positions (upon successful completion of service)—since 2011, 27 AmeriCorps members have been hired on as full-time staff members

Qualifications

Required

  • Over 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Legally eligible to work in U.S. (you can see the requirements here)
  • Pass a background check to work with vulnerable populations

Preferred:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other digital databases
  • Experience in data entry
