Job DescriptionJob Description

Civil Science is currently looking to add a Survey Field Technician to our Idaho Falls, ID team. The Survey Field Technician will be responsible for supporting surveyors in the collection of accurate field data for various types of land, construction, and engineering surveys. This role involves the use of specialized equipment and software to measure and record land features and boundaries. The technician will work outdoors in various weather conditions and must ensure that all data is collected efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Performs field assignments for average to complex land surveying scopes of work including construction staking, boundary location, ALTA, and topography for various project types. •
  • Collects and processes field measurements and data for engineering and surveying projects.
  • Operates survey instruments and resolves operation issues.
  • Performs construction staking.
  • Researches existing survey and engineering records, interprets plans and correctly stakes surveying and engineering records.
  • Responsible for organizing and transferring files between data collectors and internal project folders in a timely manner.
  • Travels frequently to work site and other project related locations.
  • Responsible for maintaining company vehicle and company equipment in a clean, professional manner.

Requirements

  • High proficiency with the use of total station (conventional and robotic) and GPS (RTK, VRS and static) instruments is required
  • Experience with Trimble equipment (total station and GPS) is desired
  • Experience with laser scanning instruments, GPS data processing, AutoCAD and Civil3D is a plus
  • Strong experience in boundary, topographic, control surveys, and construction staking for site development is required
  • Experience with transportation projects is a plus
  • Good interpersonal written & verbal communication skills.
  • A High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years relevant experience is preferred
