Unit Administrator Crisis Services

Under the general supervision of the Site Director, the Unit Administrator is responsible for programming activities, providing support and development and modeling position functions for the Crisis Services team. The Unit Administrator also ensures that goals remain focused, recovery services are provided and linkage to ongoing recovery and treatment services are being made.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as onsite immediate supervisor for team members through role modeling and coaching.
- Ensures daily operations run smoothly and assures a healthy partnership with other stakeholders.
- Conducts thorough clinical assessments and treatment plans for services.
- Provides short-and long-term recovery-oriented therapeutic counseling and education on a group or individual basis.
- Provides family education and family counseling.
- Completes clinical documentation and required paperwork.
- Provides crisis management services and responds to urgent/emergent participant needs.
- Implements the transition/discharge care plan in partnership with each participant.
- Understands and adheres to DWIHN compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
- Works in concert with Site Director to ensure quality, compliance and deliverables are met.
- Works with Site Director on all personnel challenges, using HR procedures of discipline.
- Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations and laws and DWIHN policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
- As this is a 24/7 and administrator role, the Unit Manager fulfills an on-call role to provide clinical support to staff working when supervisor is not on site.
- Unit Manager may also be called upon to fulfill shift needs when clinicians are unavailable.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA’S)

- Knowledge of behavioral health and mental health principles and practices.
- Knowledge of the Michigan Medicaid Provider Manual.
- Knowledge of MHWIN.
- Knowledge of and ability to use screening and assessment tools for behavioral health services.
- Knowledge of Quality Management and Quality Improvement principles and practices.
- Knowledge of Integrated Care services for behavioral health patients.
- Knowledge of Medicaid, local, regional and national codes, laws and regulations.
- Knowledge of medical and behavioral health practices and terminology.
- Knowledge of compliance standards.
- Knowledge of crisis training and experience in de-escalation, i.e., suicide prevention, development of crisis plans, trauma informed care, etc.
- Knowledge of NCQA requirements and the accreditation process.
- Knowledge of the principles and methodology of total quality management (TQM)/ continuous quality improvement (CQI), specifically the PDSA/PDCA Cycle, quality tools and techniques and models for improvement.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Nursing (a Bachelor’s Degree will be accepted), the Human Services, the Social Services or a related field.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Five (5) years of full-time paid professional experience working in a human service, social service, mental health or behavioral health setting.
AND
- Three (3) years of full-time paid professional experience working in crisis service operations.
AND
- Two (2) years of full-time paid professional experience as an executive, administrator, manager or supervisor in a human service, social service, mental health or behavioral health setting.
REQUIRED LICENSE(S).
A Valid State of Michigan clinical licensure: RN, LMSW, LMHC, LPC, LLP or PhD.
(Preferred)
A valid State of Michigan Driver’s License with a safe and acceptable driving record.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a crisis services setting. This position will be required to be on-site and be responsible for the 24/7 crisis services operation.
