Under the supervision of the Assistant Program Director, supervises the care and training delivered by the direct care staff for ID/D individuals in a congregate ICF setting. This is a salaried, exempt position.

Requirements:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and train the direct care staff, provide orientation to new staff, and participate in the training and evaluation of assigned staff.
  • Participate in the Interdisciplinary Team Process and prepare all necessary documentation for team meetings.
  • Develop an activities schedule for the individuals assigned; ensure community outings are regularly scheduled and attended.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the homes to ensure that daily programs and activities are conducted.
  • Ensure that all materials and supplies needed for the home are available.
  • Ensure that all assigned direct care staff complete required reports and documentation.
  • Process incident reports according to Incident Management process.
  • Conduct House meetings as necessary.
  • Monitor goal and procedural objectives implemented by direct care staff and report findings to QIDP.
  • Initiate disciplinary procedures.
  • Provide a safe, healthy, and clean environment for the individuals and function at all times to ensure the health, safety, and emotional welfare of the individuals.
  • Perform CI investigations when necessary.
  • Understand and implement requirements of union contract.
  • Work as a DSP when needed.
  • Perform other job duties as required to include, but not be limited to, daily participation in mealtime and personal care programs, and transporting/escorting individuals to pertinent hospital/medical appointments and activities through a hands-on approach.

Requirements
  • Must have knowledge of current practices and regulations in the field of Development Disabilities, along with a thorough understanding of training principles.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with the individuals and direct care staff and to prepare necessary written documentation.
  • Must possess the ability and empathy needed to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with all individuals, direct care staff, fellow employees, and supervisory staff.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment, superior leadership, and organizational skills.

Minimum Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Two or more years’ work experience in the ID/D field, with some supervisory experience preferred.
  • Must have all required clearances and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to assist in lifting over fifty (50) pounds, which may require bending, squatting, and turning to achieve proper positioning/placement of individuals.
  • Must have the knowledge and the physical capability to participate in applying physical restraints.
  • Must be capable of maneuvering mobility devices.
  • Required for this position is the ability to see, hear, speak, write, stand, sit, walk, and drive.
