JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY: The Foreman will have field responsibilities to work collaboratively with the Project Manager and Superintendent to successfully execute the requirements of the subcontract on a given project. This individual will be responsible for the proper planning, scheduling and execution of the project or a portion of a greater subcontract. This individual will report directly to the Superintendent or Project Manager, depending on the size and organization of the project staff.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for holding toolbox safety meetings and preparing written reports.
- Must evaluate and designate a dedicated jobsite safety person as required.
- Responsible for conducting proper and thorough accident investigations and preparing all required accident reports.
- Responsible for implementing all job safety requirements.
- Responsible for ordering, maintenance and inspection of all tools and equipment.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of a plan to achieve or exceed estimated labor productivity.
- Must be a skilled and knowledgeable craftsman who is aware of the leading and latest construction techniques.
- Must be able to organize and lead a group of craft workers efficiently to obtain maximum productivity.
- Responsible for ordering and assuring materials and equipment are available and in place prior to crews beginning work in an area.
- Receive and coordinate jobsite deliveries of materials and equipment.
- Must coordinate scaffolding requirements.
- Must oversee onsite fabrication.
- Responsible for interviewing recommended craft workers.
- Responsible for preparing "look-ahead" schedules consistent with the Project Schedule.
- Complete daily reports in a timely manner.
- Responsible for working with the head Project Superintendent, providing input and feedback where requested.
- Implement and manage Quality Assurance Program to ensure compliance with Project Specifications and other contract document requirements.
- Demonstrate the ability to implement directions from the Superintendent in an effective manner.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:
- Standing/Walking/Sitting: Workday is a combination of standing, walking and sitting
- Legs: Must be able to climb ladders/stairs - 20% of day
- Hands/Arms: Constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer use
- Vision: Visual acuity in near, mid and far-range vision. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination
- Hearing: Sufficient to hear conversational levels in-person and over the phone and radio; sufficient to hear alarms on equipment.
- Speech: Sufficient to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over the phone and radio.
- Lift/Carry: Up to 50 lb materials- often
- Bending/Twisting: Frequent
- Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: Frequent
MENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail required
- Must be able to work independently and as a team, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments
- Must use creativity, independent judgment, and organizational and problem-solving skills to determine best method to accomplish desired results
- Must be able to plan and organize work in an efficient manner
- Must possess strong mathematical skills, calculate proper dimensions of components, read/write/speak English, read blueprints, manuals, specifications, and communicate effectively with coworkers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of field experience
- OHSA 10 Certification required
- Self-starter and quick learner
- Constant self-education
- Possess current First Aid and CPR Certifications
- Positive attitude and passion for the work that will be performed
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bilingual language skills are advantageous for this position
- Ability to manage trade and craft people in a fieldwork situation
- Ability to maintain a cooperative attitude through pressure situations
- Training in reading design documents and specification
- Ability to share knowledge, mentor and train the future craft workers in the industry
- Possess highly developed visual observation and interpretation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and Outlook) and Bluebeam
- Experience with Project Management Software such as Procore
