SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of Head Start /Early Head Start Health Services to children and families, as outlined in the Head Start Performance Standards.

  • The implementation and supervision of all requirements outlined in the Head Start Program Performance Standards regarding Health.
  • Meets regularly with the Health Team for necessary coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Health Content Area.
  • Works closely and cooperatively with all staff members to meet the goals and objectives set forth in the Head Start Performance Standards and Service Area Plans.
  • Coordinates contacts and partnerships with community resources and agencies for staff and families with health needs.
  • Responsible for staff’s maintenance of accurate records pertaining to Health Services.
  • Reviews records regularly and provides results of monitoring to the supervisory team and director.
  • Provides training and technical assistance to staff as they relate to the implementation of the Health Content Area.
  • Receives and responds to referrals from staff regarding the health needs of children and families.
  • Coordinates program presentations and provides educational and/or resource information for staff, parents, and children pertaining to health.
  • Participates in pre-service and in-service training related to job responsibilities.
  • Participates as a member of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) process.
  • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Verifies that all Head Start/EHS staff who are authorized to administer medication have the necessary professional license or have completed the required training including but not limited to: a valid cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid certification. In addition, any Head Start/Early Head Start staff person identified to administer medication must be 18 years of age and be literate in language or languages in which instructions and permission are written.
  • Required to visit all of their Head Start/Early Head Start program sites as per the OCFS requirements for the sole purpose of monitoring the MAT process.
  • Attend and participate in Service Area Meetings, Content Area meetings, and Health Services Advisory meetings.
  • Conducts self in a professional manner in dress and behavior. Models positive work ethic for parents and staff.
  • Other related duties may be assigned.

    Salary Range: 19.10 Hourly Onwards

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Registered Nurse (RN) or Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration, or Public/Community Health and one (1) year of health-related experience. Experience with low-income children and families preferred.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), two (2) years of health-related experience. Experience with low-income children and families preferred.

Or

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), two (2) years of health-related experience. Experience with low-income children and families preferred.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Basic math knowledge and computer skills, Microsoft Office skills.
