Job Summary:

This position is responsible for processing, identifying, and creating qualified sales opportunities through inbound and outbound activities. CDSs are the primary voice and personality through which customers and prospects interact with VMRD. The CDS must have a desire to achieve goals, to maintain customer relationships, and to increase sales of products. The position requires an ability to seek and develop new business, think creatively, exercise self-motivation, and exhibit strong communication skills.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Processes orders, quotes; responds to and routes technical support cases; works to ensure accurate and timely delivery of orders in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
  • Acquires and maintains an understanding of VMRD's diagnostic portfolio; continuously keeps aware of new product availability and applications as well as SOP's that are defined in the CDS training documents
  • Strategizes with sales to create leads; creates and utilizes target prospects lists and penetrate key accounts
  • Identifies key customer needs and requirements for veterinary and veterinary diagnostic industries; Identifies key individuals, researching, and obtaining business requirements and present solutions to start the sales cycle
  • Assists customers (and sales leads) with general and technical inquiries, provides education on diagnostic products and services; responds to and routes technical support cases; nurtures long-lasting customer relationships
  • Qualifies and engages sales leads, handing them off to sales; follows through with sales cycle by maintaining accurate activity and lead qualification information in CRM application (NetSuite). Utilizes CRM software to create pre-call plans, post-call analysis and schedules follow-up
  • Maintains order and shipment records-both digital and physical; prepares customs forms and other documents for international shipments; performs various shipping and receiving duties when needed
  • Other duties as assigned by manager, to include but not limited to marketing and administrative responsibilities

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly organized and self-driven; aptitude to manage numerous requests and time demands concurrently
  • Strong work ethic to enthusiastically pursue and achieve goals
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills; excellent listening skills and a positive and energetic phone presence; exhibits constancy and reliability; produces dependable work results
  • Adept computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly excel; CRM experience a plus
  • Treats others with mutual respect and regard; ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Desired Qualifications and Experiences:

  • 2+ years sales or customer service experience; experience in biosciences field preferred

Education, Licenses and Certifications:

  • High School diploma or GED; BA/BS degree preferred

Physical Requirements for the Job:

  • Sitting at a desk, for computer and phone work
  • Travel up to 10% of the time

Pay Range: Between $20.27 and $25.00 per hour. Our pay ranges are determined by job responsibility and regional benchmarks. This position may be eligible for a commission plan once the incumbent demonstrates proficiency in the position. The range listed is just one component of VMRD's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include bonuses.
