Job Summary

TransLash is looking for a reliable and collaborative Social Media Coordinator to support the Digital + Social team across a range of content and social engagement needs for our website, social channels, newsletter, and more.

The Social Media Coordinator will report to the Social Media Manager.

The candidate must have experience ideating and producing promotional assets for social media channels and should come prepared to share and develop ideas for new ways to effectively engage TransLash Media’s audiences on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, and emerging platforms. Additionally, the candidate should be champion for adopting and adhering to best practices in digital storytelling.

This role requires availability during core business hours, along with some evening and weekend availability as needs arise.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to our Social Media Manager on day-to-day digital content needs across all of our platforms. This includes helping the team implement our brand identity across social channels; sourcing timely and evergreen content for the social channels; writing social media copy; supporting the implementation of visual design strategies; helping to maintain the social media calendar and posting schedule; scheduling and publishing approved content on social media channels; supporting community management across social channels; and providing support on various tasks as needed.

  • In concert with brand guidelines and voice, writing social media copy; creating graphics, videos, memes, etc.; and community managing various social platforms.

  • Ensure social media content aligns with channel objectives and strategies, brand voice and tone, and social media best practices.

  • In collaboration with the Social Media Manager, monitor social platforms and email to coordinate responses/escalating inquiries with appropriate team members in a timely manner;

  • As needed, support social promotion and outreach strategies across TransLash verticals (Podcast, Films, and Articles);

  • Attend weekly and monthly editorial calendar planning meetings with the Social Media Manager and Social team to brainstorm and pitch creative concepts and ideas for social content.

  • Help develop and maintain internal processes and protocols related to community management and issue resolution. Support the development of responses to questions, comments, and issues, ensuring all responses use the appropriate brand voice and tone;

  • Some travel required to cover live events.

Education and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting and creating content for daily social media accounts for an agency or news organization, or supporting a fast-paced media brand that produces social media on a daily basis;

  • Demonstrated experience serving LGBTQ+ audiences/communities/customers.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • You are a strong copywriter with a knack for crafting engaging social media copy across multiple platforms that aligns with brand voice and tone;

  • You have your finger on the pulse of news, social media trends, and social content related to and created by the LGBTQ+ community;

  • You have demonstrated experience on the ins and outs of how to best use Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter/X,, Canva, social media scheduling tools such as Sprout Social, and YouTube for impact;

  • You are up-to-date on the latest social media trends and best practices across platforms;

  • You are comfortable creating and editing graphic designs using Canva;

  • You have a portfolio including writing samples, and examples of graphics creation in Canva or other graphic design software;

  • You are self-motivated, work well independently, and are eager to learn on the job and develop new skills;

  • You are quick on your feet and can adapt to rapid changes in workflows and processes;

  • You also have:

    • professional experience developing and posting content and campaigns across social media platforms;

    • demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from different cultures, backgrounds and perspectives;

    • strong interpersonal skills, proactive team player, and an ability to build trust and rapport with your team and our clients;

    • proven verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders;

    • solid planning and organizational skills, with experience proactively managing multiple projects from inception through to execution and reporting;

  • Tech Savviness: Possesses a high level of tech-savviness and adaptability, staying current with emerging digital tools, platforms, and trends to enhance productivity and effectiveness.

  • Communication Skills: Displays strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate ideas clearly, collaborate effectively with team members, and engage with our online community in a respectful and inclusive manner.

  • Problem Solving: Exhibits the ability to identify challenges and proactively develop innovative solutions to address issues related to content creation, engagement, and digital production.

Physical Requirements:

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods

  • Prolonged periods working on a computer

  • Communicating with others to exchange information

  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.

Compensation:


Compensation for the position is $30 per hour plus benefits. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; Employee Assistance Program; and paid time off.
