Medication Technician

Medication Administration:
- Accurately administer prescribed medications to residents or patients at designated times.
- Ensure correct dosages and verify the identity of the patient before administration.
- Document medication administration according to facility policy and legal requirements.
Monitoring and Reporting:
- Observe and report any adverse reactions or side effects from medications.
- Monitor vital signs and assess patients for changes in their condition.
- Report any concerns or issues to the supervising nurse or healthcare provider.
Patient Interaction:
- Provide compassionate care and support to patients, addressing their needs and concerns related to medication administration.
- Educate patients and families about medications, including proper usage and potential side effects.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Communicate effectively with patients and other healthcare team members.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and regulations, including infection control and safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal laws regarding medication administration.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain certification and stay updated on best practices.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a state-approved Medication Technician training program.
- Certification: Current Medication Technician certification in the state of Tennessee.
- Experience: Prior experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Skills:
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacology.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Capacity to lift or move patients and equipment as needed.
- Manual dexterity to handle medications and equipment.
This job requires a high level of responsibility and attention to detail, as Medication Technicians play a crucial role in the safe administration of medications and the overall well-being of patients. Hours for this position will be form 8a-5p Monday-Friday.
