Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Operation: Safely and correctly operate equipment to deliver ionizing radiation for treating neoplastic diseases or other therapeutic purposes.
- Patient Care: Perform high-quality radiation therapy procedures according to exam protocols in a timely manner, following the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist.
- Pretreatment Preparations: Carry out pretreatment preparations, including simulations and fabrication of treatment devices.
- Technical Competence: Perform daily morning QA on linear accelerators and CT simulator.
- Record Keeping: Utilize hospital and Radiation Oncology EMR systems to record patient treatment delivery, document patient positioning information, and communicate any pertinent information regarding patient care coordination.
- Scheduling: Schedule patients for simulation and treatment.
- On-Call Participation: Be flexible to participate in on-call procedures if needed.
- Team Collaboration: Work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patient Support: Ensure a positive and compassionate patient experience by providing support and education, explaining procedures, and putting patients at ease.
- Stress Management: Maintain a calm and helpful attitude under stress, taking appropriate steps to resolve issues.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an approved program in Radiation Therapy.
- Experience: 3-4 years of experience preferred.
- Licensure: Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) and licensed by the state of New Mexico or eligible for licensure.
- Certification: BLS certification required.
- Technical Knowledge: Knowledgeable of the operation methods and safety standards of all equipment producing ionizing radiation within the department.
- Radiation Handling: Ability to handle radiation sources safely.
