Position Overview: This individual will be responsible for supporting the Clay Terrace Family Success Center by making connections and networking with youth and families in the Clay Terrace community to build bridges between the center staff and the community. This person will build strong relationships with community stakeholders, residents and government agencies as needed. This individual will also respond to critical incidents as needed.

Staff Requirement: High school diploma/GED with a 3 years direct human services experience preferred. Experience and familiarity with the Clay Terrace community and public housing required. Ability to work with troubled youth and families in crisis. Must have strong oral communications skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor outdoor area immediately in front of SBY property as well as surrounding Clay Terrace community to ensure youth are productively engaged in the community;
  • Conduct daily outreach to maintain steady influx of clients and contacts within the Clay Terrace neighborhood and surrounding area;
  • Seek out and obtain partnerships with community stakeholders; establish and maintain community contacts; assist in all new development and activities with said partnerships;
  • Participate in strength-based approach to working with hard to serve youth, young adults and adults;
  • Provide crisis intervention and triage case management services when appropriate;
  • Support FSC team in providing a safe and supportive environment for youth and families;
  • Assist FSC team in promoting positive behavior interventions in the space;
  • Provide the Program Director with timely and accurate documentation of all services provided, including client progress reports, court reports, Unusual Incident Reports, and case notes;
  • Complete all reporting procedures and necessary documenting for program;
  • Represent SBY at community meetings as assigned; and,
  • Other duties as assigned

Note: This is an hourly, contractual position whose continuation is dependent on continued funding and budgetary restrictions. Candidates must be able to complete a clearance process which includes FBI, DC Criminal, DC CPS, CPR/First Aid and others.
