Job Summary

The Staff Accountant assists the Finance department in managing daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and contributing to month-end closing and financial reporting for multiple business units. This position is located in Norwood, MN.

Essential Functions

  • Financial Compliance: Ensure business transactions are accurately reported following generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Month-End Close: Assist in the month-end closing process by preparing, analyzing, and reviewing general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Accounts Receivable and Payable Support: Provide support for Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable as needed.
  • Cross-Unit Collaboration: Work with team members across all business units and travel to different sites as required.
  • Annual Audit: Assist with the annual audit process, including drafting financial statements and related notes.
  • Expense Analysis: Research and analyze expense variances to inform company management.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct accounting and financial analyses to identify key trends and support critical estimates, such as accruals and reserves.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across different functions to assist in the preparation and reporting of financial results.
  • ERP Utilization: Perform accounting functions using ERP software.
  • Report Processing: Process various accounting-related reports required by management.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain accounting records and assist with the preparation of monthly and yearly financial reporting for the company.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of related work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with MS Office products, with significant experience and knowledge of Excel.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Performance Standards: Demonstrated ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • ERP Software: Proficient in using ERP software.
  • Accounting Practices: Strong understanding of general accounting practices.
  • Document Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret documents such as invoices, payroll reports, and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply basic algebraic concepts.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to understand and execute instructions provided in written or oral form and solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Travel Requirement: Ability to travel up to 10%.
