Summary:

The Facilities/Equipment Maintenance Specialist assists in performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of corporate facilities and equipment, heating and cooling systems, plumbing, and minor construction or remodeling of Wipaire buildings.

Job Duties:

  • Performs basic maintenance and repairs to facilities, equipment, and vehicles to keep company assets in good working condition.
    • Performs scheduled maintenance of multiple building elements.
    • Repairs buildings, floors, and/or stairs to ensure all building systems operate efficiently and the physical condition of the building does not deteriorate.
    • Performs basic rough and finished carpentry work to include patching and painting of walls, staining of millwork trim and minor repairs to partitions, walls, doors, shelving, etc.
  • Acts as a resource to Wipaire leadership and employees by following up on all maintenance requests promptly and accurately.



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:.

    • Certification or higher from a Trade School or Vocational-Technical Institute preferred, or equivalent work experience.
    • One year minimum related experience with Building Maintenance work, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
    • Working knowledge of applicable regulations and standards including, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Hazardous Material Regulations (HAZMAT). Working knowledge of local and national codes (i.e. plumbing and electrical).
    • Valid Minnesota driver's license is required. Class A license and DOT designation preferred.
    • Able to perform routine inspections of work areas, keeping inspection reports, and ability to discuss issues, paying special attention to detail and problem areas.
    • Able to perform maintenance on vehicles and equipment, and to determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
    • Basic computer skills, specifically Microsoft Outlook for email.
    • Able to monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
    • Detailed knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings and other structures, including knowledge of carpentry tasks, millwork and finish work including installation of doors, trim, cabinets, counters, etc.
    • Detailed knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
    • Able to meet regulatory and safety requirements in all aspects of the work.
    • Able to maintain high quality standards and attention to detail in all facets of the work. Able to maintain utilization and efficiency standards.
    • Able to plan, prioritize, coordinate, and manage own work. Able to work independently, make moderate level decisions independently, and solve problems effectively and creatively.
    • Able to display high levels of customer service, responding promptly and thoroughly to the inquiries and needs of individuals internal to the organization.
    • General knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems or willingness to learn these areas.
    • General knowledge of mechanical systems with a thorough understanding of building floor plans, blue prints and schematics.
    • Able to identify work that is beyond the scope or capabilities of maintenance and recommend contractors.
    • Able to supervise and work with outside contractors performing work on company facilities or equipment.
    • Able to operate forklifts and manlifts to perform work at the height of the facility, inside and outside.
    • Work as an effective and proactive team player; exhibit flexibility and switch priorities in work duties while maintaining a positive attitude; understands the importance of supporting the organization, customers, and other employees.
    • Show professional knowledge, proficiency and initiative in achieving goals and meeting standards.
    • Hear, speak and effectively verbally communicate in the English language, including following oral and written instructions, in order to communicate with people inside and outside the organization.
    • Apply manual dexterity and visual acuity for using tools and equipment use and to review detailed instructions and information.
    • Stand and walk to move around Company buildings, plants, hangars, and office areas several hours throughout the day.
    • Perform lifting up to 60 pounds, with frequent lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
    • Twisting, turning, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, standing, walking and reaching frequently in the performance of responsibilities.
