Position Description:

An experienced farmer to help plant, maintain and harvest crops at Extension at Bonton Farms. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to the farm team and crop production. Bonton Farms is the largest urban farm in the United States with two locations and over 40-acres in production.

Responsibilities:

  • Attend a daily farm meeting to learn about needs for the day
  • Prepare rows and plots for planting
  • Maintain rows according to Bonton Farm standards including watering, weeding and pruning
  • Harvest at least twice a week including harvesting, bunching and cleaning to be delivered to market
  • Help maintain the farm by cleaning supplies, putting up tools, etc.
  • Assist in greeting and leading volunteer groups that come to assist with a high degree of customer service representative of Bonton Farms
Requirements:

  • Previous experience working on a farm in particular helping with harvesting and planting
  • Understanding of farm techniques
  • Accuracy in executing assigned tasks
  • Familiar with industrys best practices

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience working on a farm. In addition, the candidate would have an understanding and passion for the mission of Bonton Farms.'
