Job Purpose

Responsible for ordering and managing the supply of products, materials, and services. Recognizes business needs and makes decisions to meet the company’s operational requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

Safety

  • Work safely, perform safety audits, and report any safety concerns to Safety Manager.

Quality

  • Perform work accurately and assure ISO quality expectations are met.

Communication

  • Provide suggestions & feedback to Management team for ideas & improvements.
  • Communicate regularly with all manufacturing departments.
  • Provide daily material and service status updates

Work Expectations

  • Generate purchase orders, solicit bid proposals and review requisitions for goods and services.
  • Liaison between the maintenance team and contractors to place purchase orders and resolve maintenance related issues. Objective is to minimize downtime.
  • Establish sound relationships with suppliers, ensure lead times are met and expedite outstanding orders.
  • Request quotes and compare prices.
  • Track incoming inventory, delivery and arrival times.
  • Verify receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipment errors with suppliers.
  • Collaborate with various internal departments to ensure that requests are met and fulfilled.
  • Update order details into database.
  • Proactively identify cost reduction opportunities.
  • Develop reporting for senior management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Ensure all work is completed in a timely, accurate manner.
  • Be dependable.

Qualifications

  • Thorough understanding of purchasing procedures and policies.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Proactive, highly motivated and flexible
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to work and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven negotiation skills.
  • Experience in equipment maintenance parts and service procurement
  • Experience with Purchasing systems (ERP) (preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Bachelors degree in related field preferred but not required.
  • At least two years of purchasing experience required.
