Position Overview: The Fire Alarm Technician for Repair and Installation is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, repair, and installation of fire alarm systems in various settings, including commercial buildings, residential complexes, and industrial facilities. This role requires a thorough understanding of fire alarm systems, electrical systems, and building codes to ensure compliance and safety standards are met. The technician will work independently or as part of a team to diagnose issues, perform repairs, conduct system testing, and install new fire alarm systems as required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. System Diagnosis and Repair:
    • Conduct thorough diagnostics to identify issues with existing fire alarm systems.
    • Perform repairs and replacements of faulty components, including sensors, control panels, wiring, and notification devices.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to system malfunctions or false alarms promptly.
  2. Installation and Maintenance:
    • Install new fire alarm systems according to blueprints, specifications, and local fire codes.
    • Ensure proper placement and configuration of components, including detectors, alarms, annunciators, and control panels.
    • Test newly installed systems to ensure functionality and compliance with safety standards.
    • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on fire alarm systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  3. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of all installations, repairs, and inspections performed.
    • Generate detailed reports outlining findings, recommendations, and actions taken during service calls.
    • Provide documentation to clients, building owners, and regulatory authorities as necessary.
  4. Customer Service:
    • Interact professionally with clients, building occupants, and other stakeholders during service calls.
    • Educate clients on the proper use and maintenance of fire alarm systems.
    • Address customer inquiries and concerns in a timely and courteous manner.
  5. Compliance and Safety:
    • Stay informed about relevant fire codes, regulations, and industry standards.
    • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with local, state, and national codes and regulations.
    • Adhere to safety protocols and best practices to minimize risks and hazards associated with fire alarm system installation and repair.
